We are celebrating the springtime this month with a festive floral craft! Using liquid watercolors, we will be making brightly colored flowers inspired by the gardens and florals featured in the artworks in the Impression and Reality exhibition. Impressionist became fascinated with capturing fleeting moments, especially in nature and gardens. Famously, Monet worked and hosted many artist, including American Impressionists, to live and work at his residence in Giverny that had a large Japanese inspired garden. We can see that inspiration and influence on the artists in the works in the exhibition!
MATERIALSWhite Paper Coffee Filters Liquid Watercolors Droppers Pipe cleaners Scissors
PROJECT STEPS: Fold your coffee filters in half a couple times until it is approximately an inch wide. Cut a curve at the wide end and snip a small amount from the pointed end. Repeat twice, cutting your curved edge shorter each time. Open your filters and use a dropper to paint each filter with the liquid watercolors! After drying, layer your filters and gather them to create the floral look! Tie a knot at the end of a pipe cleaner and thread through the middle holes in the flower. Use another pipe cleaner to secure your gathered flower.
