This month, we will be pulling inspiration from the patterns found in the works of Anila Quayyum Agha to create stamps that will make beautiful patterns, just like in her works! These stamps will allow us to create any kind of design we wish using geometric and arabesque-like shapes! Some patterns incorporate natural elements like flowers and vines. These are called arabesque patterns. Other patterns can use shapes like stars, squares, and circles. Those are called geometric. It is up to you which patterns you would like to do (or you can combine them both!) as you make your stamps and use them to create endless patterns and combinations!
MATERIALS
Foam Stickers or Foam Sticker Sheets Cardboard Scissors Stamp Ink Pads Paper
PROJECT STEPS: (Skip if using premade shaped foam stickers) Draw your shapes or designs onto foam sticker sheets Cut out your designs. You can do multiple shapes for your patterns. Stick your stickers on cardboard and cut the cardboard around your sticker so that it matches the shape. This will help you be able to see the shapes better when stamping. Press your new stamp to stamp ink pads, evenly coating it with ink. Press your stamp down onto paper, creating repeating patterns with your other shapes.
