Peterson Guerrier grew up in Miami and attended Design and Architecture Senior High thereafter securing a Fine Arts degree from College of Creative Studies (CCS) in Detroit. His first museum exhibition took place at the Mennello Museum of American Art in August of 2018. He has shown at the Grand Bohemian Gallery and City Arts Factory, Orlando, as well as galleries in New York and Miami.
Guerrier presents thoughtful portraits imbued with personal and universal symbols of life experience in the world, familial and relationship structures, and the strength of human emotion. He works in both painting and photography — interested primarily in extremes, juxtapositions, and duality. His approach to mark-making is instinctual and creates figures through the transformation of layers of color and multiplying shapes. For Guerrier, these works are at a balanced space wherein happiness, sadness, frustration, and contentedness can coexist.
