ORLANDO MAYOR BUDDY DYER and FRIENDS OF THE MENNELLO MUSEUM OF AMERICAN ART invite you to the opening night of Through the Darkness to Light: Photographs along the Underground Railroad, a program of ExhibitsUSA, a national division of Mid-America Arts Alliance and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Through the Darkness to Light: Photographs along the Underground Railroad features beautifully dramatic color photographs and research by Jeanine Michna-Bales, as well as ephemera and true narratives that together tell the story of the Underground Railroad. The exhibit provides visitors with a small glimpse of what the long road to freedom may have looked like for 100,000 enslaved Americans in the years before the Civil War’s end.
Jazz vocalist Kristen Warren who “sings and writes Jazz/neo-soul” is joining us for our opening of Through Darkness to Light: Photographs Along the Underground Railroad.
