Florida Folk July 3 through September 27 , 2009 Florida has been the home of several of the most well known and original folk artists to emerge from the southern part of the country. From the early work created by Jesse Aaron who received a message from God that he should carve to the iconic portraits created by Mr. "Eddy" Mumma through the three dimensional animals of O.L. Samuels, the exhibition will feature a choice selection of pieces that present each of the artists in their unique and most original advantage. Don't miss this wide variety of images drawn from the collections of the Mennello Museum of American Art, The City of Orlando permanent collection and several local private collectors.
Southern Folk August 21 - September 27, 2009 Featured work by William Edmondson, the first African American artist to be given a one-man exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in 1929. Joining his little woman will be pieces created by Bessie Harvey, Nellie Mae Rowe, Howard Finster, Kevin McCarthy, and Minnie Adkins. The pieces have been selected from the collections of the Mennello Museum of American Art, The City of Orlando Permanent Collection, and several local private collectors
